NC Teaching Greenhouse

Poinsettias grown in the College’s Teaching Greenhouse are not only festive florals for the holidays, but are helping to raise funds for the United Way.
Deck the halls with festive florals from the Teaching Greenhouse! Dash on over to the Teaching Greenhouse during its in-person shopping hours for three weekends starting November 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until December 12.
Pretty College-grown poinsettias are available in a variety of sizes: four-inch red poinsettias ($5 each), six-inch red, white and pink ($10 each), and 10-inch red and white ($20). $1 from poinsettia sales will be donated to the College’s campaign for the United Way Niagara.
Dish gardens of tropical indoor plants which have been grown in the greenhouse and planted in festive pots, will be available in early December ($10 to$30 depending on size), as well as an assortment of tropical plants and succulents.
Spruce up your festivities with green bundles ($40), 10-inch undecorated porch pots ($50), or 10-inch decorated porch pots ($50).
Don’t forget to stop in at Benchmarket for a variety of gift items, including NC honey, produced on campus by students from the Commercial Beekeeping program (500 kg for $7.50, while supplies last).

Wine Visitor + Education Centre

When it comes to stocking up on wine, beer, spirits and cider made at NC, the Wine Visitor + Education Centre is your one-stop holiday shop.
‘Tis the season for your favourite NC wines – perfect for holiday gifts or hosting. From Dec. 1-31, the WVEC is offering 15% off of all cases of wine (wine only), 12 bottles and more. Mix and match among your favourite NC wines to create your holiday case.
There are plenty of new releases and popular favourites from the College’s Teaching Winery, Teaching Brewery, and Teaching Distillery, to please the wine, beer and spirit lovers on your list.
Newly released wines include Balance Pet Nat Chardonnay, Balance Malbec, Balance Petit Verdot, Balance Merlot Cabernet, Balance Fortified Muscat, Dean’s List Viognier, and Dean’s List Botrytis Affected Chardonnay.
Cap off the holidays with new small batch holiday beers from the NC Teaching Brewery, including Rudolph Red Nose Ale, Three Weissemen, or Imperial Ale – or treat your loved ones to popular favourites from the Beer 101 series. Beer 101 Showcase Packs feature two cans each of the 12 different beers in the series – a colourful addition to any beer fridge. If Small Batch Brews are more your style, stock up on a Tasty Twelve or Surprise Six.
Multiple-award-winning Butler’s Bitter, a celebration beer crafted for the bicentennial of the War of 1812,iis always a hit with fans of traditional English cask ale and history buffs alike.
Make spirits bright this holiday season with a growing list of selections from NC’s Teaching Distillery that would make a fine addition to any bar: from Vodka, Gin, W Studio Gin, to Apple Brandy, Ambrosia, Barrel Aged Eau-de-Vie, Tropical Heat, and Southern Hospitality. Cider enthusiasts will be sure to embrace recent award-winners Cider 101 and Les Marmitons Gastronomy Cider, along with Montmorency Cherry Cider. Treat your honey to Campus Buzz Mead, made by Winery and Viticulture Technician students with honey produced on campus by students of the Commercial Beekeeping program!

Don’t miss the Wine, Visitor + Education Centre’s Holiday Open House which will take place December 3 to 5 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Visitors can enjoy complimentary samples, snacks and tours (between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.), lounge near the firepits, sip cocktails and more.
