Education News Canada shared NC’s release announcing the Esthetician program has received $43,000 in funding for a new work-integrated learning (WIL) project to help students prepare for a new era in the industry and gain hands-on experience that has been limited during the pandemic.
Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Innovative Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) program and Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning (CEWIL) Canada’s iHUB, the program received $20,000 to invest in new multimedia equipment, which students are using to create product demonstration videos for industry expert Trish Green – president, Balnea Spa products and creator of skincare product line TheraGenesis. As part of the project, students are writing scripts, speaking on camera about their assigned product, shooting and editing the videos, which will have real-world exposure on the company’s website next year.
Through the funding, 23 second-year students have also been awarded $1,000 each as a stipend to help them through financial challenges.
