On Sunday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m., the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre will host a free screening of Beyond December 6, a film by director Catherine Fol featuring survivors of the tragic mass shooting at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal.
The screening is in partnership with the Women’s Advisory Committee at the Niagara Region for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. Following the screening, a panel discussion will seek to grapple with many difficult questions surrounding gender-based violence, racism, feminism, and help and healing for survivors. It will feature panelists from across Niagara including Fiona Allan, Niagara College Vice-President, Academic.
This community event is free, with physically distanced and reserved seating. Tickets can be reserved online and the NC community is encouraged to attend.
NC flags to be lowered on Dec. 6
On Dec. 6, flags will be lowered at Niagara College campuses to recognize Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Violence Against Women and to honour the memory of the 14 young women who lost their lives in the mass shooting at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal.
