NC Culinary Innovation student Michelle Lang was in the media spotlight on November 9 when she was featured in a segment on the CHCH evening news.

Lang, who is a mother of four from Hamilton, Ont., is one of two students in Canada who was selected for a fully sponsored placement in the Concept to Market Sprint program, a partnership with Chartwells Thinking Ahead Giving Back and Venturepark Labs, a non-profit founded by Arlene Dickinson from CBC’s Dragon’s Den. The partnership is a joint effort to support student entrepreneurs looking to break into the packaged food industry.

During the segment, CHCH reporter Phil Perkins interviews Lang who explains the concept she submitted to the program, Pie in a Jar, and her dreams for its expansion in the food market. Perkins, who got to sample Lang’s Pie in a Jar apple-saffron flavour, also interviews NC’s Amy Proulx, Professor and Program Coordinator of the Culinary Innovation and Food Technology program.
