Niagara College retiree Helen Slade was interviewed by Stephen Quinn with CBC Radio on November 2.

In the interview, Slade, who taught English at the Welland Campus, briefly mentions that she was fortunate to have been a teacher at Niagara College while living in southern Ontario.

Slade was invited on the radio after she sent a letter to the CBC expressing her admiration for the broadcast company who she shares a birthday with – both Slade and the CBC turned 85 years old on Nov. 2. Slade marked the milestone by sending an $85 donation to the CBC along with her letter, a gift she hopes can be used to help children. Quinn suggested that the CBC could send the donation to Slade’s local food bank in Chilliwack, Ont., where she currently resides.
