Vancouver-based Mugglehead Magazine shared news about NC’s research project around cannabis-infused products such as beverages, gummies, confectionery and baked goods.
Through the Cannabis Edibles Applied Research Initiative, college researchers will study the infusion and dispersion of CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) in foods and beverages that contain cannabinoids. Research efforts will help build a body of scientific data for the industry, while helping to guide companies in developing new edible products. The project is being administered by the CFWI Innovation Centre, which was granted a Single Site-Multiple Protocol research licence for the initiative.
The article also mentions that NC was recently granted a licence from Health Canada to grow industrial hemp and includes a quote from Alan Unwin, Dean of Business, Tourism and Environment at NC, on the subject.
