Niagara College’s Teaching Brewery joined brewers across the country in raising a glass for Canadian Beer Day.
The Teaching Brewery was invited to participate in Beer Canada’s Beer Day video (featured above) which was released on Canadian Beer Day on October 6 featuring Brewmaster professor Jon Downing.
Beer Canada also released a video tour of the NC Teaching Brewery, led by lead brewer Brad Barta (view below),
Downing noted the importance of supporting the industry.
‘Supporting Canadian Beer Day goes way beyond our graduates brewing the beers you enjoy across the country,” said Downing. ” It also includes those in the hospitality, tourism, agriculture, logistics and many other industries.”
About Canadian Beer Day
Held on October 6, 2021, Canadian Beer Day is a day to celebrate Canadian beer and the people who brew it, sell it, deliver it, serve it and drink it.
Beer Canada encourages participants to post a photo of their favourite Canadian-made beer or brewery on social media using the hashtags #CDNBeerDay and #CheersAgain and to visit their local breweries (safely) or get their favourite brew delivered to support the Canadian Brewery industry.
According to Beer Canada, Canadian brewers directly employ 19,000 Canadians and the sale of beer supports 149,000 jobs across its added-value-chain including farmers that grow barley, truckers that bring beer to market, graphic designers creating labels and packaging, local beer retail experts, and restaurant bartenders and servers.
Over 85% of the beer purchased in Canada is made locally.
