This year’s celebration is taking place on Thursday, October 28 from 10 to 11:45 a.m., broadcast live from the Welland Campus and accessible virtually to all employees. In addition, we will be hosting Niagara Day Viewing Rooms at each campus allowing staff and faculty to connect with each other in real life and watch the event together (with health and safety protocols in place).
A true Niagara College tradition, this event is our annual opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, celebrate achievements, and recognize employees for their extraordinary work and contributions over the past year.
Hosting this year’s celebration will be emcees Cindy Andrews (International Contract Training Manager) and Gary Torraville (Director, International), who are busy preparing for the big day.
Registration is required for the event, whether you are planning to watch from your remote workplace, your campus workspace, or a viewing room. Registration for Niagara Day can be accessed here.
NEW: We're asking all employees to Register for Niagara Day.
How to tune in and maximize your viewing experience
Dutch VandenBerg and the team from our Broadcasting – Radio, Television and Film program will be returning to produce this year’s celebration.
The livestream link to the celebration and additional details will be shared with all those who register closer to the event date.
If you would like to watch the Niagara Day celebration with colleagues in a Viewing Room, please make sure to register so that ample refreshments can be ordered for everyone in attendance.

Randell Adjei, Ontario’s first Poet Laureate, will speak at Niagara Day.
Keynote speaker Randell Adjei
We are excited to announce that this year’s Niagara Day keynote speaker is Randell Adjei, Ontario’s first Poet Laureate. Adjei, a Scarborough native, is a spoken word artist, speaker, arts practitioner and cultural curator.
Adjei is the founder of RISE Edutainment (Reaching Intelligent Souls Everywhere), which provides youth with inclusive and safe platforms across the GTA to creatively express themselves through the performance arts. RISE is an important outlet for many who, like Adjei, have endured negative situations in their lives.
The popularity of RISE led to significant notoriety for Adjei, leading to accolades that have included CBC’s Torontonian of the Year in 2015, NOW Magazine‘s May 2017 Local Hero, and The Black Canadians Awards Best Spoken Word Award winner in 2014. In 2018, RISE was also awarded the Mayor’s Youth Award by Toronto Arts Foundation, Toronto’s city-wide charity for the arts.
Adjei has performed across the world and in support of high-profile figures like President Barack Obama, Terry Crews, Paul Mooney, Kardinal Offishall and Toronto Mayor John Tory.
Please take time to register, as the questions will help Randell get to know Niagara College in preparation for the event.
We look forward to connecting with you on October 28 as we continue this beloved NC tradition, reflect on the past year and look ahead to NC’s next chapter.
