On September 29, Jill Troyer with Niagara Now wrote an article about how the heavy rainfall in September is posing challenges for the annual grape harvest for wineries across Niagara Region.
In the article, she includes comments from NC’s own winemaker Gavin Robertson, who notes how “wet conditions create the potential for sour rot and breakdown, as the grapes are left on the vines to ripen further.” Robertson also mentions that warmer weather and rain contributed to healthy vines during the growing season, with local growers experiencing a large crop this year.
