An article in Postmedia publications, including The Growth Op and the Winnipeg Sun, features NC’s Commercial Cannabis Production program, which recently secured a Health Canada licence to cultivate industrial hemp.
The article highlights how the production of industrial hemp will provide new opportunities for students, who will learn how to grow the crop in different settings at the College. A comment is included from Alan Unwin, NC’s Dean of Business, Tourism and Environment, who speaks to these valuable learning opportunities.
Previous comments from NC faculty and staff are also included in the piece. A 2018 quote from NC Professor Bill MacDonald speaks to the demand for trained professionals in the cannabis industry, while NC’s Vice President of Research & External Relations Dr. Marc Nantel is quoted in relation to the “CannaResearchBunker,” which was installed at NC’s Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake in March 2021.
