Niagara College’s trailblazing Commercial Cannabis Production program has secured a licence to grow industrial hemp and Newstalk 610 CKTB and Move 105.7 shared the news.
Industrial hemp is a non-intoxicating substance that is used for home insulation, textiles, paper, biofuel, cannabidiol (CBD) for medical uses and as a food source. Students in the CCP program will study its plant genetics, seeding and germination, flower identification, harvesting and drying hemp, and will learn to grow the crop in a controlled agriculture environment (the program’s Cannabunker), in a greenhouse setting and outdoors.
The coverage includes a quote from Alan Unwin, NC’s Dean of Business, Tourism and Environment, about how the program’s hemp cultivation curriculum will provide valuable learning opportunities for students.
