Students, staff and visitors travelling to and from the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake should be aware of a new pedestrian path and safety measures during the reconstruction of the QEW / Glendale Avenue interchange.

Construction is ongoing on Glendale Avenue, impacting the southbound path for pedestrians between York Road and Taylor Road and access to the main entrance to campus. The new pedestrian path is outlined below and is expected to be in use until Fall 2022.

Pedestrians coming from York Road travelling south can use the temporary asphalt sidewalk that has been constructed on the west side of Glendale Avenue.

At the traffic signals for the on- and -off ramps to QEW Toronto-bound, pedestrians should cross to the east side of Glendale Ave, see photo below.

Once across the road, pedestrians can continue heading south on the east side of Glendale Ave following the pedestrian path between the temporary construction fence and existing sidewalks to get to Taylor Road.

Use designated crossing spots and take additional measures, such as making eye contact with drivers when crossing in front of vehicles.
