A message from David Atherton, dean, Academic and Liberal Studies:
It is with mixed emotions that I announce the retirement of Shirley Gilmour, administrative assistant to the associate dean of Academic & Liberal Studies at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus, who will be retiring on August 31, 2021, after more than 20 years with the College. Shirley’s last day in the office will be on Friday, August 13.
A familiar face to many, Shirley is known for her helpful and compassionate nature, her dedication to the College, and her strong relationships with both staff and students. This became evident last year when she received the 2020 Award of Excellence for support staff.
Shirley is also well-respected outside of the ALS division for her knowledge and helpfulness onboarding new assistants in various departments. A life-long learner, Shirley recently graduated from the three-year Advanced Human Resources Diploma and Advanced French Certificate programs from Niagara College.
Shirley will be remembered by her colleagues as kind, hardworking and supportive. Her many contributions to the department were integral to the success of the Academic & Liberal Studies division. She will be greatly missed!
Please join me in wishing Shirley all the best in her retirement and her future endeavors.
