On July 27, The Niagara Independent recognized Niagara College’s Teaching Winery among some of the top wineries in the Niagara Region for placing at the All Canadian Wine Championships in Picton, Ontario.
NC’s Teaching Winery won four medals in total, including a double gold in the Sauvignon Blanc category and a gold for its Balance Muscat (2019) Vitis vinifera white.
NC’s Gavin Robertson, head winemaker and NC alumnus is quoted, and the story goes on to note that Niagara College’s Teaching Winery “consistently does well at the national level.”
Bev Carnahan, director of the annual competition, is quoted: “The competition results from Niagara College consistently show the calibre of the teaching staff, and the talent of its students. Year to year, the college comes away with a fistful of medals and on occasion, a trophy. Their Balance Brut is not to be missed.”
