Tommy Sloan, head coach of the NC Knights men's volleyball squad, will take the lead as interim head coach of women's volleyball.

A message from Michele O’Keefe, associate director, Athletics and Recreation:

I’m happy to announce that Tommy Sloan will add to his duties for the upcoming OCAA volleyball season. As well as being the head coach of the Niagara College Knights men’s squad, Tommy has agreed to take the reins as interim head coach of our women’s program. With Steve Dow stepping down as head coach of the women’s program to take a fulltime teaching position, and as we expect modifications to the upcoming season, the decision was made to have Tommy take the lead of both teams for the 2021-22 season.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity to coach the women’s team on an interim basis,” said coach Sloan. “I believe that already having a connection with many of the athletes will make the transition seamless as we continue to build off the success that the program has had in recent years. Niagara College Athletics truly believes in creating a high-performance environment for our athletes, and coaching both the men’s and women’s teams this season will allow me to fully devote my time and energy to building successful programs for this season and into the future.”

Athletics and Recreation are excited to get back into the rhythm of training and competing in a sport season. Our student-athletes are ready to get back to training and having Tommy coaching both volleyball squads for the season was an easy decision to make. Tommy has previous experience coaching the women’s game so we have no doubt he will be able to create an excellent environment for both teams.

Sloan has been at the helm of the men’s program since the 2018-2019 season and has an overall record of 26-16.

Plans for the winter sports will be made in the coming weeks.
