A message from David Atherton, dean of Academic and Liberal Studies:
Please join me in welcoming Mitra Gorjipour, Ed.D., to her new role as associate dean, Academic and Liberal Studies, at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Mitra begins her role with Niagara College on July 26.
Mitra completed her Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Western University and has diverse teaching and management experience at Ontario colleges. Prior to joining NC, Mitra was the acting associate dean / academic program manager at Humber College in the Faculty of Social & Community Services. Mitra also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Masters of Education in Developmental Psychology & Adult Education from the University of Toronto.
Through her experience as a faculty member and administration roles at Humber College and Seneca College, Mitra has acquired extensive experience in curriculum design, faculty development, accessibility, universal design for learning (UDL), and human rights. She has demonstrated leadership experience, and a strong passion to advance strategies that focus on creating an equitable, diverse, and inclusive learning environment.
