Niagara College alumnus Yang Lu has been named one of Asia’s most influential individuals in the food and beverage industry, appearing in Tatler’s 2021 Tastemaker’s List for his contributions to China’s wine industry.
Lu’s profile (number 201 of 250 tastemaker profiles) mentions how he discovered wine while studying astrophysics in Canada, switching his area of focus and enrolling in NC’s Winery and Viticulture Technician program, which he graduated from in 2008. Lu is currently corporate wine director of Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts and became China’s first Master Sommelier in 2017.
