NC Canadian Food and Wine Institute dean Craig Youdale was on the April 14 edition of Newstalk 610 CKTB’s Niagara in the Morning with Tim Denis, talking about the tenth anniversary of NC’s Teaching Brewery.
During the interview, Youdale explains how beer education was introduced in Niagara, and in Canada, thanks to Jon Downing, NC’s Brewmaster, who approached the College about launching a brewing program at a time when there was no formal, hands-on training for students in Canada.
Youdale notes that NC’s Teaching Brewery and Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program pairing remains a one-of-a-kind offering within Canada to this day. He also comments on the exceptional quality of NC’s student-made beers that represent a wide range of styles and have won awards at the provincial, national and international levels.
The milestone anniversary was also covered in a news brief posted by CKTB’s Shelby Knox, who includes comments from Youdale’s interview. Read the April 14 coverage here.
