Over the following week, college employees may notice a new icon within received emails just below the sender icon (pictured below).

Sensitivity labels

The new sensitivity label defaults to “General” with three other labelling options. Currently, this function is a preliminary step in the College’s rollout of the SharePoint document management system and does not affect any processes. As SharePoint is implemented later this year, the icon will indicate the sensitivity level of an email and eventually drive controls to help protect the information within the email. This step is in addition to the new “Sensitivity” button found in the top ribbon of Microsoft Office products.

Further updates will be provided regarding labelling functionality as SharePoint is rolled out to each area of the College.
