On April 1, the provincial government released new COVID-19 modelling which indicates that Ontario is now in the third wave of the pandemic and that the new, higher-risk variants of the virus are spreading more quickly.
Effective Saturday April 3, 2021 at 12:01 a.m., Ontario will move into an emergency brake shutdown for a period of four weeks.
Niagara College will return to our lockdown delivery plans. Some schedules may be impacted by these changes and some courses may need to run beyond the scheduled end of term on April 23. If you are currently in an on-campus class/lab, please watch Blackboard for updates from your faculty.
As we enter the long weekend, Niagara College is reminding all members of the college community to remember our shared responsibility for the health and safety of our college and our community, and to follow all measures and directives to limit the spread of COVID-19.
In line with the lockdown measure announced today, any gatherings should be limited to your own household. Research has proven that social gatherings significantly increase the spread of COVID-19 and are strongly discouraged. The need to wear facemasks in public spaces, practice physical distancing and proper hand-hygiene is more important than ever. If you experience any symptoms at all, stay home, isolate and get tested.
Together, we are working towards a brighter future and are asking members of the college community not to jeopardize the progress that has been made.
