Sip, savour and connect with new online events from NC’s Learning Enterprises

NC winemaker Gavin Robertson will kick off the lineup of winter events from the Learning Enterprises on January 29 with an online Icewine experience from the NC Teaching Winery.

NC’s Learning Enterprises are making a splash on Friday evenings with a series of new online events.

Registration is open for three upcoming events hosted by the Teaching Winery, Teaching Brewery and Teaching Distillery: the Ice is Right (Jan. 29), Brewing 101 (Feb. 5) and We’re Bringing Escubac (Feb. 19).

The online wine, beer and spirit experiences were launched during the spring of 2020 as a way to keep customers engaged and to create a fun and safe learning experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each month brings a new offering from the NC Teaching Winery, Teaching Brewery and Teaching Distillery. Registration for Zoom experiences are free and the accompanying product purchases are optional which enable participants to follow along with the tasting portion of the events.

Wine Event: The Ice is Right

Jan. 29. 6-7 p.m.

Hear from NC winemaker Gavin Robertson about the unique and extraordinary beverage that has put Canada’s wine industry on the map: Icewine – from how it’s made and how to enjoy it, to what makes it so special.

Optional product package ($145) includes: one bottle Select Late Harvest Vidal, one bottle Prodigy Icewine, one bottle Savant Icewine, and one bottle Ice Syrup.

Beer Event: Mash it Up: Brewing 101

Feb. 5, 6-7 p.m

College brewmaster Jon Downing teaches participants about the art of the brew by demonstrating the effects the brewing process has on the final product with a tasting of five different beers.

Optional product package($85) includes four cans of Lager 101, four cans of Wheat 101, four cans of Stout 101, four cans of Small Batch Vienna Parti Gyle 1st Runnings, four cans of Small Batch Vienna Parti Gyle 2nd Runnings. It also includes a NC Teaching Brewery pint glass and a branded toque.

Spirit Event: We’re bringing Escubac!

Feb. 19, 6-7 p.m.

Hear from College head distiller David Dickson about this little known spirit which has a lot of history and flavour. The accompanying product package also introduces the NC Teaching Distillery’s very own Escubac, recently released under the Spirits 101 label.

Optional product package ($100) includes One bottle of Escubac, one bottle of KVAS syrup, one branded NC flask (leather-clad flask, leather-clad shot glasses and filling funnel).
