The past year has certainly had its challenges, and while many people feel like their lives have been put on hold as the world battles the COVID-19 pandemic, hunger and homelessness continues. That’s why hairstyling professor, Joe Abbruscato, is once again encouraging the Niagara College community to join him and the Niagara College Knight Walkers in this year’s Coldest Night of the Year walk.
Taking place virtually on February 20, 2021, the Coldest Night of the Year initiative invites walkers from across Canada to participate in support of local charities serving people experiencing homelessness, hurt and hunger.
“No matter what is going on in the world there are always people in need,” says Abbruscato. “Participating in the Coldest Night of the Year is just one of the ways Niagara College staff and students can come together to support those who are struggling in our community.”
This year, the Niagara College Knight Walkers are walking in support of the Open Arms Mission of Welland.
The 2021 event will be held completely virtually and participants are encouraged to select their own safe walking route near their home on Feb.20.
Registration to join the Niagara College Knight Walkers is free. To join the team or to donate, click here.
“Over the years this initiative has received a lot of support from the Niagara College community,” says Abbruscato. “It is amazing to see how current, former and future Niagara College students and staff come together for this great cause.”
