Niagara This Week: No placements, no problem: NC creates virtual preschool for ECE students

Niagara This Week reporter Lindsay Smith writes about NC’s Virtual Preschool in this article posted on December 14. The recently launched website has provided an alternative solution for students in NC’s Early Childhood Education program who are unable to complete their in-person placements due to Covid-19.

The article highlights how ECE program coordinator Angela Hayes and program faculty created profiles for 15 children and asked students to record videos of activities they would create for those children if they were working in a child-care centre. After the content is graded by faculty, certain videos are posted to the free Virtual Preschool website, where they become a resource for families with young children, especially for those at home during the pandemic.

Hayes is quoted in the article, along with third-term students Hunter Carroll and Alexandria Craddock.
