Niagara College is participating in the CanMar Global Conference & Expo, being held virtually from October 23 to 25.
The global event is a platform for industry leaders, academics and job seekers interested in the cannabis sector to learn, seek employment, network, exchange ideas and collaborate. Amongst the 60+ expert panelists is Bruce Linton, founder of Canopy Growth, who will share his insights in a fireside chat moderated by Materia CEO, Deepak Anand.
Staff and faculty from the Niagara College Cannabis Institute (NCCI), including Al Unwin (dean, School of Environmental and Horticultural Studies), Andrea Campbell (manager, NCCI) and Bill MacDonald (Commercial Cannabis Production program coordinator), will be sharing information about the newly created NCCI and NC’s Commercial Cannabis Production program during a presentation on Friday, October 23 at 2 p.m. (EST).
“We’re in a booming new industry but have lacked the formal education programs to produce a trained workforce,” said CanMar managing director, Zachary Fish. “NC has developed those programs to provide the industry with the qualified talent needed to grow.”
With a focus on education in the cannabis sector, job roles, career paths, and connecting job seekers directly with companies that are hiring, the three-day event provides a networking opportunity for NC students interested in the cannabis sector.
NC students can register here for the event at a 50 percent discount by using code NCSTUDENT.
