Network devices may not be as flashy as phones or computers – nobody is waiting in line for the latest router – but they serve an important function: they connect you to everything. This week during Cyber Security Awareness Month, let’s give these unsung heroes some well-deserved attention by making sure they’re secure against cyber threats.
Because networks do so much, it’s important to take extra care in keeping them secure. Niagara College networks use Enterprise-class technology to make your network connection on campus as secure as possible.
You can strengthen your network connection at home and elsewhere by:
- Updating your router’s name and password;
- Using a separate network for smart devices and guests;
- Turning off Wi-Fi on your devices when not in use;
- Using a VPN when accessing public Wi-Fi;
- Never accessing or sending sensitive information on public Wi-Fi;
- Never connecting to unfamiliar networks.
This is especially important as many NC students and employees continue to learn and work remotely.
