Indigenous culture will be at the forefront at the virtual edition of the annual Celebration of Nations from September 11 to 13 and NC is proud to support the event once again.

The multi-day event celebrates the creativity, diversity and resilience of Indigenous Peoples and features culturally inspired programming. Many of this year’s virtual programs will highlight a theme of “Mighty Niagara and the Great Lakes Watershed” through music, dance, poetry, song lyrics, seminars and symposia, and a variety of interactive sessions.

NC has sponsored a special series of tours called Landscape Of Nations 360’s Indigenous Niagara Living Museum Tour, which will be premiered at the 2020 Celebration of Nations event.

The Tour has been conceptualized as a museum without walls and explores Indigenous history locations and contributions in the Niagara Region. Through video, the experiences are intended to deepen and build an inspired understanding of Indigenous peoples of the Niagara Region who have lived in the area for some 13,000 years.

“We are proud to participate in the Celebration of Nations again this year as a sponsor, contributing to an innovative Indigenous tourism offering,” said Lianne Gagnon, director, Student Services. “The annual celebration provides an enriching opportunity, not only for the College’s First Nations, Metis, and Inuit students, but for all students to engage with, learn about and honour Indigenous Nations.”

NC staff, faculty and students are invited to join the celebration by viewing the livestream offerings from the comfort and safety of their own homes.

All livestreams are free to watch on the Celebration of Nations website, Facebook page and on YouTube. The festivities kick off on September 11 at 6 p.m and registration is not required.
