New information literacy skills handbook authored by NC Libraries and Learning Commons staff

The NC Libraries and Learning Commons Open Educational Resources (OER) team, consisting of Jaclyn Chambers Page and Siscoe Boschman, has created the Niagara College Libraries + Learning Commons Information Skills Online Handbook, a guide to getting started with research for Niagara College students.

The handbook introduces and reinforces essential information literacy skills for students beginning their post-secondary careers and while the material is directed specifically to NC students, the guide can be used by anyone. Subjects include avoiding plagiarism, generating search terms, effective internet searching, evaluating information, references, and more.

Chambers Page and Boschman created the handbook as an alternative to the current information literacy offerings to provide NC faculty with another option to incorporate into their online courses for the 2020 Fall term and beyond.
