Niagara College Student Administrative Council (NCSAC) executive director Steve Kosh has been honoured for his commitment to enhancing student life on campus.
The Canadian Organization of Campus Activities (COCA) presented Kosh with the 2020 Norman Earle Taylor COCA Founders Award, the first time a NCSAC employee has won the award.
Josh Clark, COCA’s executive director, said the award is given annually to a COCA member who has given of their time and talents to the organization, and who has displayed great leadership both with the organization and in their professions.
“Steve Kosh has always been supportive of COCA, helping to organize conferences, providing numerous education sessions over the years and serving as central regional director on the Board of Directors in the past,” said Clark. “Steve is well respected throughout the campus community for his achievements in support of student activities.”
Kosh joined the NCSAC as executive director in 2016 after serving as marketing and communications manager for both Mohawk College’s Student’s Association (2008 to 2016) and Brock University’s Student’s Union (2016).
He has been a member of COCA since 2008 and has helped educate its membership, including event programmers, marketers, and club coordinators, on effective marketing for student associations. After becoming executive director of NCSAC, Kosh’s involvement with COCA has evolved to support its membership in other ways.
“Having been promoted to a position that no longer attends COCA, Steve continues to support the organization serving on committees, and providing education and support to our membership,” said Clark. “We at COCA are lucky to have him and excited to present Steve with the COCA Founders Award.”
“Being recognized by my peers and receiving a National award from an organization that has helped shaped my career so influentially, is an incredible honour,” said Kosh. “I met many life-long friends and learned a lot about our unique industry through the COCA organization. As such, I want others to have the same experience, so I will always encourage those who work in student government to get involved, learn and grow as part of the organization in order to better serve their student population.”
COCA is a national organization that focuses on improving the student experience and enhancing student-life at post-secondary campuses across Canada. The organization connects students with industry experts, as well as the associates that live and breathe campus events, marketing, clubs, and professional development.
