Further to my joint statement with NCSAC President Tom Price last Tuesday and the pausing of Niagara College’s social media accounts that day in solidarity with the fight against racism and injustice, I am writing today to reinforce that message.
Niagara College fully supports inclusion on all dimensions and human rights for all people. We support the Black Lives Matter movement and we denounce racism, intolerance and injustice. As important as it is for us to advocate, it’s equally important for us to act, and we are committed to working every day to provide a learning community that is respectful, inclusive and safe for everyone.
As president of Niagara College, I am committed to providing an opportunity for our college community to have an open dialogue on these important issues, that will inform our actions as a college community on an ongoing basis. Through a collaborative working group between Niagara College and NCSAC this endeavor is already underway. I also thank those members of our learning community who have already reached out personally on these issues and I invite you to be a part of this important conversation moving forward.
