A message from Steve Hudson, senior vice president, Academic and Learner Services:

It is with mixed feelings I am announcing that Mary Wilson, our director of the Centre for Academic Excellence, has accepted a position as a tenured Associate Professor and Vice Provost, Teaching and Learning at Wilfrid Laurier University. Mary’s last day at NC will be August 14.

Mary has been a driving force behind teaching and learning at Niagara College since joining the college in 2013. As the first Director for the Centre for Academic Excellence, she enhanced our professional development programs, supported numerous learning communities and strengthened the discussions regarding program quality and the student experience. Coming to us from OCAD University, she has been able to weave theoretical and practical strengths together, forming a team that can give day to day tips combined with long term strategies for institutional growth.

Mary undertook a wide range of projects, significant professional writing and simultaneously built up a teaching and learning centre recognized for its leadership in the college system. I want to thank Mary for all work for our students and her restless focus on enhancing our learning environment.

I am sure Mary’s passion and dedication will serve Laurier well. With her forebearance, I will continue to consider her a part of the NC family even if at a bit of a distance. Please join me in congratulating Mary on her new appointment.
