NC’s Class of 2020 is unlike any other in our College’s history, and the College is planning convocation celebrations to match.
Plans are underway for NC’s first-ever Virtual Spring Convocation Ceremonies. A series of innovative and engaging live ceremonies will be held during the week of June 15 to celebrate this year’s new graduates (grouped by areas of study). View ceremony schedule here.
The virtual ceremonies will enable graduating students to mark the significant milestone #ncTogether with their classmates, professors and the college community, and invite their friends and families to celebrate along with them.
Pomp and circumstance will be in full force for the live event, which will feature many of the treasured traditional elements of the in-person convocation ceremonies. Participants will be able to hear each graduate’s name read aloud, and listen to inspiring speeches from College officials and special guest speakers. Student awards will be announced and well wishes from faculty and staff will be shared in the moment.
College staff and the NC Student Administrative Council are also going the extra mile to help graduating students remain connected to their classmates, professors and loved ones during the festivities. A custom social media experience will be incorporated into a virtual event featuring live reactions, photos and messages.
“There is nothing more important to us at Niagara College than celebrating the achievements of our graduating students and, while our current circumstances may be dramatically different, this year is no exception,” said NC president Sean Kennedy. “Drawing from the College’s deep and creative talent pool, including our BRTF program, we are committed to ensuring that our 2020 graduates mark this special milestone in their lives – one they have worked so hard to achieve in the face of unprecedented challenges – in a meaningful and memorable way, with their classmates, families and friends.”
The College also plans to invite the Class of 2020 back to campus for an in-person celebration in the future, once public health circumstances allow large groups to gather safely.
Further details regarding virtual convocation will be posted during the weeks ahead, including information about how faculty and staff can submit their messages to graduating students.
