Niagara College Recreation Therapy professor Christine Wilkinson and her children were featured in Niagara This Week and the Niagara Dailies for an act of kindness and positivity in support of residents and staff at long-term care homes in Niagara.

On April 4, the Wilkinson family and community members were outside Ina Grafton Gage Village in St. Catharines using chalk to leave messages of hope and positivity on the walkway outside the front entrance and on the walking paths. The initiative started on April 1 at Heidehof Home for the Aged.

NC alumna Lana Reid (Recreation Therapy, 2019; Dietary Food Service Worker, 2016), activation therapist at Ina Graton, comments on her role on the front-line caring for residents like she would her own family. The story notes that Wilkinson taught Reid while she was a student at NC, and that Wilkinson has reached out to more of her former students at care homes in Niagara to help spread the positivity.
