NC alumnus and Toronto mining executive René Galipeau (Financial Management, 1970), was featured in The National Post on March 26. Galipeau’s personal story is one of hardship and perseverance, which the grandfather of six is tackling with sharp wit and a sense of humor.

A beloved member of the NC community and a long-time support of the Seafood Gala, Galipeau – nearly 75 – was diagnosed with cancer and given a grim prognosis from his doctors.

In the article, Galipeau talks about beating the cancer odds, only to be diagnosed with COVID-19. He and his wife Mary are currently recovering in their Toronto apartment, Galipeau’s sense of humor as strong as ever, and hoping to recover in time to spend the summer by the lake at his family’s cottage on Lake Erie.

The Niagara College community wishes Galipeau and his wife good health and a smooth recovery.
