As many of the NC staff and students know, our beloved Basil the NC Greenhouse cat past away last summer. Over the winter, a homeless cat was taken in at the Greenhouse, and he has been getting to know staff and students. We’re happy to share that the Greenhouse will be his new home, but he needs a name.
Naming contest
Niagara College students, staff and alumni are encouraged to participate in the contest to name the new cat, which will run until February 10.
Name submissions can be made at: niagaracollege.ca/contest
As the cat’s official guardians, Dr. Dan and Saundra Patterson will select a winning name from the submissions. The winning moniker will honour the power of the Niagara College brand and his tie to the Greenhouse.
The winning name will be announced via social media on February 18.
The first person to submit the winning name via the online form will receive a $50 Bench-to-Go gift card and a $50 Greenhouse gift card.

While I love the hustle and bustle of the Greenhouse and all the attention from students, remember that I’m still settling into my new home at the College. Please be gentle and take extra care when interacting with me.
