Niagara College was featured in Education News Canada for the January 29 launch of a new and expended Indigenous Lounge at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake

The grand re-opening of the space showcased the space, operated by the College’s Indigenous Education department, for students to gather, study, socialize and celebrate their culture. The new lounge is more spacious with additional amenities: a ventilated area to allow for smudging sessions, a kitchenette with a sink and refrigerator to enable food prep, and more seating, tables, and extra computer workstations. It is also in a more central location on campus, in a high-traffic area near the Student Commons.

College president Dr. Dan Patterson, and Student Services director Lianne Gagnon are quoted in the re-release, sharing their pride for the new space, its importance to student life, and the importance of culturally inclusive spaces on NC’s campuses.
