A message from Nicole Perreault, director, Human Resources:

As we begin the Winter 2020 term, and after extensive consultation, I am pleased to share two important Human Resources policies that have been recently approved by Niagara College’s Executive Team.

The revised Conflict of Interest policy clearly and concisely defines what constitutes a conflict of interest in the workplace, and combines the previously distinct Outside Activities practice, Staff Relationships practice and Conflict of Interest practice into one comprehensive policy.

It is important that employees disclose and address any actual or potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor. Supervisors will be expected to meet with all staff to discuss whether there are any real or perceived conflicts of interest that should be disclosed. The Conflict of Interest procedure outlines the steps to follow in identifying, disclosing and addressing any actual or potential conflict of interest. The policy, procedure and two associated forms are available by clicking here.

Secondly, Niagara College’s new Employee Code of Conduct provides clarity on the standards of integrity and professional conduct expected of College employees, including respect in the workplace, professional behaviour, communication, and children in the workplace. Please review the policy by clicking here.

Please take a moment to review both of these important policies. If you have any questions, please contact your department’s HR Consultant, or reach out to myself, or Lisa Craig, associate director, Human Resources.
