Ben Forrest authored the piece, “Niagara’s secret superpower in manufacturing” in the Financial Post in which he covers the regions success in advanced manufacturing. Niagara’s “secret superpowers” include it’s strategic location near international markers, namely the U.S. border, as well as Hamilton, Burlington and Mississauga, and the “unique breadth and depth of Niagara’s skilled workforce.”

Among the superpowers, Forrest cites Niagara College’s Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre, which he calls “a hotbed for applied industrial research,” where students and faculty “work together to develop new products and processes for industrial clients in Niagara and across Ontario, developing a new generation of highly-skilled workers and developing real-world solutions for established companies.”

Gordon Maretzki, Centre manager, Advanced Manufacturing says that Niagara College is a resource  for talent in Niagara, a great place to live, start a business, and attract talent.

Niagara is described as “an industrial economic engine,” which is “outpacing Ontario.”
