Parking at Welland Campus begins transition to HonkMobile December 3

As announced earlier this year, Niagara College has partnered with mobile parking app HonkMobile to offer convenient, cashless parking.

Beginning Dec. 3 2019, hourly and daily paid parking at the Welland Campus will begin to transition to HonkMobile. Those with Internet-connected devices (or who connect to campus Wi-Fi) will be able to pay for parking when they arrive, or before they arrive, by downloading the app, available on both iOS and Android devices. Users can also tap their phones at Honk Mobile tap meter locations throughout the college.

When logged in, the app will display two Zone ID’s for the Welland Campus. Users can select Zone 2600 for Lot A (daily paid parking), or 2601 for Lots B, C, D, E, F and G, and provide their payment and licence plate information through the app. Please note that paying for a spot in advance does not reserve a parking space. Registration with the app includes your licence plate number, and allows bylaw officers to scan plates to confirm payment.

Students, staff and guests without a mobile device will be able to pay for hourly, daily, and weekly paid parking at a HonkMobile tablet kiosk, which will be located at the Applied Health entrance and the Parking office (L122). Honk tap meters and kiosks will be installed gradually during the week of Dec. 2-6.

Parking pay stations will continue to be available during the transition, and physical parking permits will continue to be honoured – current permit holders do not need to use Honk. Permit parking for the 2019-2020 year will continue to be available for purchase by following the permit parking instructions on the Parking Services website. For Guest passes please continue to contact [email protected]

The app is expected to launch at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus in the Spring of 2020. When fully implemented, as current parking permits expire, staff and students will be able to purchase permit parking for the upcoming school year (Sept. 2020 – Aug. 2021) using Honk.
