This story in The Globe and Mail features Steelcon Fabrication Inc., a family-run structural steel fabricator who relocated from the GTA to Niagara for having the “full package,” said Steelcon’s Danny Bianco.
In addition to a highly competitive industrial tax rate and a large and well-equipped facility in St. Catharines, Bianco has been able to attract skilled workers who are graduates of Niagara College. The Globe writes, “many of his newest employees were sourced locally, where Niagara College trains workers through its manufacturing program.”
Niagara is seeing “unprecedented growth” across many sectors, including manufacturing and agriculture, according to Valerie Kuhns, director of Niagara Economic Development.
Industrial development achieved the highest growth rate in Ontario from 2015 and 2018, and that growth is expected to continue. This is good news for job prospects for graduates of NC programs who want to work and contribute locally.
