The Niagara Dailies reported on the official opening of Niagara College’s Marilyn I. Walker Centre of Excellence in Visual Arts and Technology, made possible thanks to a generous $1 million donation from the estate of a late philanthropist Marilyn I. Walker.
The piece includes photos of the new space, as well as quotes from NC President Dan Patterson who express his gratitude to the late Walker for her support of students pursuits of the arts.
The newly renovated centre is located on the third floor of the Simcoe building at the Welland campus and includes a video wall. Future enhancements will include four classrooms, a resource room with new equipment including printers, 3D printers, a die-cutting machine, two game design classrooms, photography equipment for graphic design, and a studio with screen-printing equipment.
The funds will also support staffing for the centre and new equipment for students in the media programs, housed in Voyageur.
