On Saturday, September 28, Niagara College was pouring out the school spirit atop a 53-foot float in the 2019 Grape and Wine Festival parade, an annual tradition for the College. Over 60 NC students were aboard the float, coordinated in a joint effort by the Centre for Student Engagement and Leadership (CSEL), the Niagara College Student Administrative Council (NCSAC), and NC’s International Department.
The Grape and Wine Festival is Canada’s largest wine festival, a six-day celebration of Niagara wine in historic Montebello Park in downtown St. Catharines. A celebration of Niagara and the bounty of harvest, the festival showcases all that the region has to offer.
Aboard the parade’s largest float were NC students, staff, and President Dan Patterson and his wife Saundra proudly wearing their best NC blue.
NC’s float was decked out in blue and white in honour of the parade’s theme of colour blocking and featured a live DJ to play music for the crowd. Students were full of energy and school spirit. On Saturday night in Montebello Park, festival organizers announced that NC won People’s Choice for favourite float.
NC organizers wish to give a special thanks to the Saint Denis Roman Catholic Church who granted use of their parking lot to decorate the NC float.
