In a special piece in Niagara Now, Tim Taylor wrote about Mike Scott, former Chair of the Niagara College Board of Governors and current member of the NC Learning Enterprise Corporation Board of Directors. Scott is featured for the transformative impact he’s had on youth through his role as Scout leader. Scott, a Niagara-on-the-Lake resident, has led the scouting movement for the last 50 years, his impact felt locally, nationally and internationally. Scott is also the former president and CEO of Peace Bridge Brokers in Fort Erie who retired in 2005.
Scott believes strongly in the impact of scouting, having started his journey at the age of eight in Weston, Ontario with his father as his scout-leader. Scott says, “It’s all about the kids. Making sure the kids have opportunities. I had a fabulous time in scouting and I want them to find what I found. It had such an impact on my life. It gave me confidence. It gave me skills.”
Scott’s work with Scouts has made a difference in the lives of young people.
