Significant progress has been made on the reconstruction and realignment of roadways and parking lots at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus, and construction is on schedule to be completed before the start of the Fall Term. As we move into the next phase of construction, several steps have been taken to ensure staff, students and visitors have clear and consistent access to parking, as well as clearly defined pedestrian pathways.
Two pedestrian walkways have been established that allow access between the main campus buildings, the Niagara Corporate Business Centre, and parking lot B6. These walkways are paved sidewalks marked by orange flags, and are located in parking lots B5 and B6. Traffic control personnel are posted in the area and are able to assist pedestrians crossing the roadways under construction. Staff at the NCBC are also able to access the overflow lot via the NCBC entrance on Glendale Ave. This entrance is to be used only for the overflow lot, and is not intended to be used as an alternate entrance to the main campus.
Several lots will be closed in the coming weeks to accommodate construction:
- From August 2-11, Lot B1 will be closed, with the exception of a small portion available as temporary parking for Residence guests. Staff, students and visitors with electric vehicles will also continue to have access to the two vehicle charging stations located on the southeast corner of lot B1. After August 11 the East portion of B1 will be available for parking, however the portion closest to the Marotta building will remain closed.
- Lots B4 and B5 continue to be closed for construction. A temporary gravel lot has been created for staff, student and visitor parking, and is located in Lot B6. Further areas in Lot B5 will be opened for parking as soon as possible.
Please see the below map for details on the new walkways, lot closures, and construction zones. Any questions can be directed to Brian Hughes, project manager, at ext. 4440.
