NC’s culinary students receive a nod in this August 1 article in Muskoka Region News. Huntsville, Ontario is gearing up for their Flavours of Ontario event with gourmet Ontario-inspired courses and with help from NC’s culinary students.
The event – which will invite diners to enjoy a six-course meal on the dock at the waterfront – is a collaboration between the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce and Jeff Suddaby, owner an chef at 3 Guys and a Stove restaurant.
Kelly Haywood, Huntsville Chamber of Commerce executive director explains that culinary students from Niagara College will prepare the feature dessert, a cherry torte, an example of the College’s focus on experiential learning and career preparation. Hayword explains that there is a “severe workforce shortage in Muskoka,” and hopes to showcase the opportunities for students to live and work in the region following graduation.
