The Standard: Chris Rao comes back from east to take Niagara women’s basketball team north in the college standings

This article in The St. Catharines Standard features Chris Rao, recently announced as Niagara College’s new women’s basketball coach. Rao will succeed Mike Beccaria who wrapped up his sixth season after leading the Knights to a bronze medal at the Ontario championships.

Rao returns to the Niagara region where his father is Brock University women’s basketball head coach Mike Rao. The younger Rao spent three seasons as an assistant with the men’s program at Cape Breton University and another with the men’s team at Acadia University.

NC’s Michele O’Keefe is quoted, “Though young in age, Chris has been coaching post-secondary basketball for the last few years and has gained the experience and respect of the athletes.”
