Musabbir Chowdhury, PhD, project Director of NC’s Productivity and Innovation Lab (Pi Lab) and International Commerce professor was recently invited to Copenhagen, Denmark to serve as chair and speaker at the International Institute of Social and Economic Sciences Business and Economics Conference at the University College Copenhagen on June 24 to 27.
Chowdhury spoke at the conference and presented Pi Lab research on smart cities and the sharing economy related to intelligent technologies such as blockchain, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.
Within the four days in which the conference took place, respected representatives from their fields spanning all across the globe heard Chowdhury speak about intelligent and connected technologies which will be adapted in future cities to take on the issues of the world’s growing population and increasing urbanization as well as the implementation of automation. Chowdhury discussed ideas from a published paper he authored entitled ‘Strategic Realignment within Smart Ecosystems: Organizational Preparedness for Smart Cities and the Sharing Economy’ which focuses on increased global sustainability aided by smart technologies and better-managing of resources preventing excess energy-consumption, and solving the problem of waste through the shared economy.
This is just merely one of the topics that Pi Lab has championed over the past five years, and it was received very well at the conference by academics and researchers from around the globe. To Chowdhury, an opportunity to meet and present to other professionals in the world of business and economics at the conference was an opportunity to find like-minded individuals to create partnerships with as well as plant the seeds for future projects.
Chowdhury has been a project director of Pi Lab and International Commerce professor of Niagara College since 2014 and has been invited to present at numerous academic conferences throughout the world.
Under Chowdhury’s guidance and mentorship at the College, Pi Lab has accomplished five years of strengthening businesses and organizations through innovative means with initiatives spanning across North America and Europe. Research associates are thrust into real-world consulting and market-based objectives giving them un-paralleled hands-on experience.
