The Welland Tribune interviewed NC’s Michele O’Keefe, associate director, Athletics and Recreation, following the Toronto Raptors NBA win. O’Keefe asserts that Canadian’s renewed interest in basketball will only grow. The passion for the game, she says, will inspire youth to take an interest in the sport which has competed with hockey and soccer as the most-played sports among Canada’s youth.
O’Keefe is also involved with the Junior NBA Canadian Leadership Council, a partnership formed between the NBA and Canada Basketball to help drive the growth of youth basketball in Canada.
O’Keefe has been part of Canada’s basketball scene for more than two decades, as a long-time member of the Raptors’ statistics crew beginning in 1995, to her professional career with Ontario Basketball and as past-president and CEO of Canada Basketball.
