Dr. Dan Patterson recently announced that he will conclude his tenure as President of Niagara College when his current term ends on June 30, 2020.

The Board of Governors holds the responsibility of recruiting and selecting the College’s next leader. Accordingly, on Thursday, June 6, the Board approved the process that will be used to select the next President of Niagara College.

This process is outlined in a document which sets forth the steps and principles that will guide recruitment and selection.

The Board of Governors is committed to following this process which is guided by principles that align with the college’s people plan, while incorporating best practices in human resources and recruitment. Key college constituent groups, including faculty, support staff, administrators and students, will have input through their elected internal representatives to the Board of Governors all of whom are members of the Presidential Selection Committee. The Committee is also comprised of the Chair and Vice Chair of the Board together with three external governors who are members of the Board’s Presidential Evaluation Committee.

As a first step, the Presidential Selection Committee will select an executive search firm to assist with the process. The successful firm will help to provide opportunities for stakeholders to provide input into the development of a leadership profile; identify and recruit qualified candidates; and assist with candidate evaluation and selection.

The Niagara College Board of Governors is committed to ensuring transparency, and will be providing regular updates via the Presidential Search website.

All questions pertaining to this process may be directed to myself as Board and Presidential Selection Committee Chair via Michael Audibert, Board of Governors coordinator, at [email protected].
