On June 4, The Welland Tribune reported on the work of NC faculty and students at the Teaching Brewery who brewed a commemorative beer in honour of the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in France during the Second World War.

Downing worked with St. Austell, a Cornwall, England-based brewery, to recreate their beer recipe from 1944. Downing was inspired by the D-Day brewing log from St. Austell’s and the curious timing with Canadian soldiers arriving in Normandy. A fan of history and historical beers, Downing saw this project as a unique and memorable learning opportunity for students in the Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program.

The piece features photos of NC brewmaster Jon Downing and sales co-coordinator Justin Niece with the limited edition brew.
