Kamloops Matters reported the winners of the U.S. Open College Beer Championship held in May in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Niagara College won Bronze in the stout category for their beer “Smurf Stout.” NC was one of only two Canadian schools who won awards in the competition.
Fourteen colleges and universities from the U.S. and Canada participated in the event. The championship is open to all colleges and universities that teach brewing courses, to help determine the best future brewers in North America. This year’s competition had five categories: Belgian, Bavarian, Stout, IPA and Open, where students could enter any style of beer they wanted to brew.
